BR #38October 22, 2012 • Capitalization rule #13: Capitalize the names of sections of a country. • EX: New England Gulf of Mexico Rocky Mountains • Capitalization rule #14: Capitalize compass points when they refer to a specific section of the country. • EX: the West Coast the West the Northwest

  3. BR #39October 23, 2012 • Capitalization rule #15: Do not capitalize compass points when they indicate direction. Do not capitalize adjectives derived from words indicating direction. • EX: Milwaukee is north of Chicago. Ex: southerly wind northern Texas • Capitalization rule #16: Capitalize the names of streets and highways. Capitalize the names of buildings, bridges, monuments, and other structures. • EX: River Road West Side Highway Golden Gate Bridge Lincoln Memorial
