  3. Goals of the Course • Carry out some publishable research

  4. Grading • Projects (55%) • Paper Critiques (30%) [drop 2] • Participation (15%)

  5. Projects • Research quality projects • Mid-term review • never got anything from several groups... • Final report • conference paper length/quality • 10-15 minute presentation in class

  6. Presentations • Wed. & Fri. next week • random selection on Wed. who goes first • 14 projects -> 8 minute talks • 3 extra minutes for questions • 2 person groups must both present • have slides loaded on machine in advance • Tell us • problem, analysis, tasks, designs (iterations), testing, results, future work... (<= 8 slides)

  7. Presentation Grading • Organization • overview • Good descriptions & whys... • Summary • Effective slides • Present in the 8+3 time period • Make eye contact & project well

  8. Write-ups • Must put both your proposal (original or revised) & final write-up on web • Conference paper length/quality • easing up on length • 6-10 pages printed (from Web) • Cover same areas as talks • more details & lots of pictures • Due Friday, 5/8
