Were a warring people who set up fort-like citiesin the Peloponnesus, the southernpart of Greece, and the North Central. 2. By 1200 BC, earthquakes and warfare had destroyed most of their cities. Unlike the Minoans who were protected by the sea, Mycenaean cities had walls to protect them from invaders

Temples and other public buildings also stood on the acropolis 4. Each city-state also had an agora, or marketplace. Citizens met in the agora to discuss common issues. 5. Greek citizens were loyal to their polis and were often willing to die for it.
