  2. What is it? • Digital divide is defined as the gap between people that have access to the internet and those that do not. • It is also defined as the gap between those that constantly use the internet and those that do not.

  3. Why is it important? • With the distribution of wealth already heavily unbalanced in society, those with access to the Internet are becoming even richer through the power of information • The digital divide is compounding the effects of socio-economic divisions

  4. Personal Experience • Not having internet access, • Vacation • No service • Not having a certain piece of technology • Dead technologies

  5. Solutions • Affordable broadband access • Wireless networks • educational programs • workshops • Library administrators could provide a workshop on how to search the internet
