  3. Fire kills 2 in packed area in Palmerah JAKARTA: Fire engulfed several houses in a packed residential area on Jl. Gelora IX, Palmerah, Central Jakarta, early Friday morning, killing two people. Budi and Sandi were trapped inside their room in a boarding house and found dead with severe burn injuries soon after fire fighters managed to put out the fire. Their remains have been admitted to CiptoMangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta. “They were Sim card vendors, and had just closed their stall at about 1 a.m. [on Friday]. It is not yet clear, however, what triggered the fire. Dhian said some suspected it was caused by a short circuit, while others said it was because either Budi or Sandi had unknowingly lit up their mattress with a cigarette by falling asleep with the cigarette still lit.
