  4. Background • Responsible for Data Collecting and analyzing disaster data • Interaction with the National Disaster Loss Database in DMC and Epidemiology Data

  5. Geo-graphical distribution • 26 district • 305 MOH ( Medical Officer of Health areas)

  6. Purpose • To provide technical assistance for data management activities in EPI Unit with focus on National Disaster Loss Database for the target users and applications.

SRI LANKA CURRENT EPIDEMIOLOGY UNIT DATA STRUCTURE NOTIFIABLE DISEASE SYSTEM (Routine systems) Collected on form F399 (data source) 25 notifiable diseases Weekly Aggregate data Clipper/DBF3 NOTIFICATION SYSTEM Collected on form H411a (data source) Follow-up of reported notifiable diseases Sent with f399 after follow-up cases Case based data Clipper/DBF3 CONFIRMATION SYSTEM Collected on CIFs Follow-up of confirmed cases Sent separately to EPID Unit Case based data VB/SQL SPECIAL SURVEILLANCE

After entering the data, ten percent of forms are randomly selected and then these are re-entered into the program and verified. • Feedback report

SRI LANKA CURRENT EPIDEMIOLOGY UNIT DATA STRUCTURE Data back-up procedure • There are three backup procedures currently running for epidemiological data: • a mirror system running with file server, • every Friday the data manager backs-up all databases to • a hard drive in computer room and • floppies are used for day-to-day backup operations by data entry operators.
