  1. Caring(Red) • Being kind • Being compassionate (feeling sympathy for those who are misfortunate) • Helping people in need In the classroom: Explain what bullying is and how to prevent it. Videos on bullying will help in demonstrating exactly what bullying is and how to seek help.

Citizenship(Purple) • Cooperating with others • Getting involved in the community • Being a good neighbor • Obeying rules and laws • volunteering In the classroom: Inform the students of how they can be good citizens. Have a guest speaker (police officer, community organizer, leader of a youth program) speak with the students about to be involved in their community.

  3. “Character is who we really are. It’s what we do when no one is looking. It’s the accumulation of thoughts, values, words and actions.” • Character is taking into account other people and their differences. • Teaching about and helping students with character will help promote the unity of our society. In the classroom: Mardi Gras Character Carnival!
