Respect • DEFINITION:RESPECT is a positive feeling of high regard for others, their beliefs, their culture or a concept, such as learning; a specific feeling of friendship, worth, or politeness, an attitude of admiration; valuing or honoring others, civility or a show of concern or service toward others; empathy; the golden rule.

  4. Behaviors that show RESPECT in a classroom: • Being on time • Coming prepared to learn • Dressing for success • Encouraging, helping & supporting others • Listening & paying attention • Working to your highest standards • Using scholarly language • Collaborating with others

Behaviors that show RESPECT in the hallways:  • Being in class on time • Walking & moving to class • Gathering out of the hallways to provide access for others to get through the hallway • Using conversational voices (“Inside Voices”) • Using school-appropriate language • Picking up after yourself • Being considerate to others around you

Behaviors that show RESPECT in the Commons: • Including others so no one feels left out • Using conversational voices (“Inside Voices”) • Practicing good table manners • Using school-appropriate language • Being considerate to others around you • Picking up after yourself and recycling garbage • Pushing in your chairs • Leaving things better than you found them • Saying Thank You to Food Service and Custodial staff members

Behaviors that show RESPECT at athletic events: • Exhibiting positive leadership for “the Lightning,” our opponents & the game • Demonstrating positive enthusiasm • Encouraging fellow students, opponents, players, coaches and officials • Showing  Eastview pride and spirit • Cooperating with game supervisors & officials • Holding each other to our highest “Lightning” standards

Eastview Scholar • DEFINITION:  A SCHOLAR is a student who learns or takes up knowledge or beliefs; a person who is engaged in the pursuit of learning; a person of literary or scientific attainments; an educated person; a lifelong learner; a person whose purpose is to contribute to the betterment of society.  

  10. A SCHOLAR exhibits an attitude of: • Trust, honesty and integrity • Respect and civility toward others •  Self-discipline •  “Can do” mindset • Pride in strong work ethic • Ownership of learning

  11. A SCHOLAR shows he or she is serious about learning by: • Making a positive first impression • Participating and engaging • Being prepared to learn • Being responsible • Being curious • Working to the highest standard • Being a positive leader

  13. Respect and Scholar Message • Today’s info is more than a one time presentation. Take a look at the posters in every classroom. We will revisit these ideas often and in multiple settings. • Specifically, you will hear presentations this week from ALL teachers in ALL classes about responsibilities and expectations in their classroom. • Always remember…. “WE ARE…EASTVIEW!”
