  2. How It Works • Centripetal Governor is linked to the camshaft • Once a certain speed is reached, centripetal force activates the governor • Rotating weights are pushed out which lets off on the throttle • The engine slows to a safe speed

  4. Why They are Needed • Used to maintain engine speed • Necessary so that the engine doesn’t run itself to death Why it’s Made of Plastic • Possibly because there is less friction between steel on plastic than steel on steel • Plastic is also lighter than steel
