  1. Question on God Hearing Prayers • I've been taught that the Bible says that God doesn't listen to the prayer of sinners but we are all sinners. I make mistakes and how am I supposed to know if God hears my prayers or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell if he hears them.

  2. Question on God Hearing Prayers • God does not hear the prayers of those who do not seek or hear God. (1 Pt 3:12-13; Psa 34:15-19)

  3. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 1 Peter 3:12-13- For the eyes of the LORDare on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil." 13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?

  4. Question on God Hearing Prayers • Psalm 34:15-19- The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.

  5. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

  6. Question on God Hearing Prayers • These verses are talking about “sinners” as being those who are opening rebelling against God. These people do not have the fellowship or protection of God.

  7. Question on God Hearing Prayers • God will not respond when they suddenly call upon Him in a day of trouble.

  8. Question on God Hearing Prayers • God will not respond when they suddenly call upon Him in a day of trouble. • God is there to help the penitent Christian in his struggle with sin! (Heb 12:1-3)

  9. Question on God Hearing Prayers • Hebrews 12:1-3 - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

  10. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

  11. Question on God Hearing Prayers • We as Christians are told that if we say we have no sin that we are deceiving ourselves. (1 Jn 1:10)

  12. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 1 John 1:10 - If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

  13. Question on God Hearing Prayers • We must not enter a practice of sin (sin without repentance). (1 Jn 3:6-9)

  14. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 1 John 3:6-9- Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

  15. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

  16. Question on God Hearing Prayers • How can I know that God will hear my prayers?

  17. Question on God Hearing Prayers • When I ask in faith believing his promises! (1 Jn 1:9; James 1:5-6)

  18. Question on God Hearing Prayers • 1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  19. Question on God Hearing Prayers • James 1:5-6 - If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

  20. Question on God Hearing Prayers • This is not a question of feeling or sensing but one of faith in God’s promise!

  21. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • One question I have is about Acts 6. When it says: “therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.” (Acts 6:3 ESV) Is the Spirit referred to the same gift of the Spirit in Acts 2:38? Also if it's actually full of the Spirit in the same way the apostles were then there wouldn't be a need for them to lay hands on them. (Acts 6:6)

  22. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • It is important to let the context tell what a word or phrase means.

  23. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • It is important to let the context tell what a word or phrase means. • You have already pointed out how the “gift of the Holy Spirit” in the laying on of hands is not the same “gift” that was given every Christian upon their baptism.

  24. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Every Christian has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:9) but they did not have the Holy Spirit in the gifts given by the laying on of the apostle’s hands. (Acts 8:14-18)

  25. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Romans 8:9 - But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

  26. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Acts 8:14-18 - Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

  27. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

  28. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • In this context to be “full of the Spirit” is to have the Spirit given message implanted in one’s heart. We can do this by being a careful listener and in meditating on what we hear. (James 1:21-25)

  29. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • James 1:21-25 - Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

  30. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

  31. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • We are commanded to do this! (Eph 5:18-19)

  32. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Ephesians 5:18-19 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

  33. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • In this we are also “filled with” God, knowledge, and fruits of righteousness (Eph 3:19; Phil 1:9-11; Col 1:9)

  34. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Ephesians 3:19 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

  35. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Philippians 1:9-11 9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

  36. Question on Being “Filled with the Holy Spirit” • Colossians 1:9 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

  37. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • I am hearing that some Christians believe that that the 2nd coming of Jesus occurred in 70 AD in the destruction of Jerusalem. How would you answer these brethren?

  38. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • There will be a literal physical resurrection of all men who ever lived.

  39. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • There will be a literal physical resurrection of all men who ever lived. • Paul reasoned with unbelievers that they would be held accountable at the judgment day and the proof of this would be the resurrection of Christ. (Acts 17:30-31)

  40. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Acts 17:30-31 30 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.“

  41. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Why would the resurrection of Christ have any connection to proof of a future judgment of all men? Consider how Paul develops this reasoning with Christians. (2 Cor 4:13-14; 1 Cor 6:14; Phil 3:20-21, 1 Jn 3:2)

  42. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • 2 Corinthians 4:13-14 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you.

  43. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • 1 Corinthians 6:14 14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.

  44. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Philippians 3:20-21 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

  45. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • 1 John 3:2 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

  46. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Is this resurrection a figurative resurrection of a cause?

  47. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Is this resurrection a figurative resurrection of a cause? • Did Jesus discuss a literal resurrection and a very different afterlife in His ministry?

  48. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • What was the disagreement with the Sadducees about? (Lk 20:27, 34-36)

  49. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Luke 20:27 27 Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

  50. Question on the 2nd Coming of Christ • Luke 20:34-36 34 And Jesus answered and said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 "But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 "nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
