  2. Upgrade Plan • Upgrading PS from 8.3 to 9.0 • From stand-alone into combined database with Student Administration • Upgrade presentation at Annual PeopleSoft Higher Education Users Group forum • Patches & Fixes • Continue to work w/ SA as modules are implemented

  3. Why upgrade? • Keep vendor support current with PS • Combine HR and SA in one database • Utilize a common development tool set for OIT to better support all PS applications • Improved security features • Cohesive look among all PS applications (Finance and Human Resources)

  4. What is different/same? • Navigation changes (see Chart) • Person Model • Pages remain the same • Exception – Personal Data • Corrected current production issues (Change PAR, Reports, COLA/Merit, Leave) • HR keeps all existing functionality • Reports remain the same

  5. Efficiencies • Improved database performance (reports, processes) • Change PAR – resolved several issues (Retirement, Department report, better organization) • Created/modified reports (Vacant Positions w/ new data, Change PAR) • Flexibility to add and modify Leave Plans • Technical changes to improve efficiency and ability to modify programs in the future • Auto populate data entry based on defaults • Plan to Eliminate Notice of Separation form

Data Integration • HR and SA Integration Committee • Pre Go-live meetings for integration points/business processes • Continue to meet throughout SA Implementation to test new modules w/ HR processes • HR and SA are combined sharing data elements • Personal data (name, address, phone, etc.) • Search Match

  7. Person Model • An Organizational Relationship is how a person is related to UMBC as represented in the database • The person keeps the same ID throughout the system (HR or SA) • The ability to track a person without having to create a JOB record • Person Types • Employee • Contingent Worker • Person Of Interest (Campus Solutions, Other/HR)

Testing Plan • 4 Database Passes • Testing Includes • Full Cycle Testing – New hire through distribution • Full Volume – Time Entry, Leave, Payroll, Distribution • Unique Scenarios • Non-standard Processing – Leap year, Grad Asst., COLA/Merit, etc. • Reports and Queries • End User Testing • Electronic Interface File Transfer testing
