  7. Easy and Reasonable Expectations(Students will agree to meet these with minimal need for teacher reminders.) We will start by allowing the use of electronics in the cafeteria and gym during lunch and recess.

  8. Keep phones silent or on vibrate at all times: • You won’t disturb others. • Eliminates inappropriate ring-tones concern. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  9. In an emergency, immediately turn off all devices, remove earbuds, and put devices away : • We won’t overload first responder systems. • Helps us keep you safe. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  10. Remove earbuds and clearly discontinue use of all devices when your attention is requested: • Communicates that you are ready to listen. • Ensures your safety in an emergency. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  11. Cooperate with digital-free days: • Research shows that unplugging is healthy. • Data will be collected to find out what we learn from these experiments. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  12. Refrain from texting students who are not in lunch or recess: • Helps support teaching and learning. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  13. Keep the volume low enough so that you can hear your surroundings: • Makes it possible for others to get your attention. • Safe for your hearing. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  14. In the gym – only use electronics in the corners or off to the side. Remove earbuds and don’t use phones when walking around/through the gym: • Helps avoid accidents. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  15. Educate your families, new students, and community about our expectations: • Increases understanding of what we expect. • Increases the likelihood that people will meet our expectations. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  16. Be sensitive to others; don’t show off. • Since everyone does not have access to electronics, this helps reduce the likelihood of people feeling left out and/or jealous. Demonstration please… Stand if this makes sense. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  17. Educate students about the kinds of inappropriate electronic device actions that already lead to disciplinary consequences, such as: • Cheating/sharing test information. • Contacting people to engage in illegal activities. • Monitor the situation to see if these inappropriate actions increase. Stand if this makes sense to you. Stand if you agree to meet this expectation.

  18. Educate students about the kinds of inappropriate electronic device actions that already lead to disciplinary consequences, such as: • Stealing. • Taking illegal/inappropriate photos, or using photos without permission. • Monitor the situation to see if these inappropriate actions increase.
