  1. Heb.11:24-26– “24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked unto the recompense of reward.”

  3. We continue to practice certain sins today because we find them in some measure or in some way pleasurable

  4. Because of the advantage or pleasure of the sin, we find it difficult to not want to engage in that sin

  5. We face the vengeance & wrath of God • 2 Thess.1:7,8 • Heb.12:29– God is a “consuming fire” • Heb.10:30,31– “Vengeance belongeth unto • me, I will recompense” • Rev.21:8– Lake burning with fire/brimstone • Matt.25:41– “the eternal fire”

  6. 2 Thess.1:8,9– “8 rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus: 9 who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,” I don’t want to be cut off from God and all the righteous

  7. It gives me guilt feelings Because I knew better than to transgress Jesus talked about this very thing Matt.11:28 – He talks about the burden of sin Jesus restores peace of mind Matt.11:29 – He will give rest to our souls 1 Pet.1:8 – “joy unspeakable” Phil.4:7 – that “passeth all understanding”

  8. David experienced it 2 Sam.11 He lusted in his heart He then committed adultery with her He tried to cover it up He had her husband killed to keep it hidden

  9. Perhaps my own children! • I want to stand before the righteous judge with my whole family and hear Him say to each one, “Well done, good and faithful servant … enter thou into the joy of the Lord” (Matt.25:23) • I don’t want to cause even one person to be lost
