  3. DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid

  4. Location • The DEF tank is located inside the rear of the cab. The access door can be found behind the Drivers seat in the step well.

  5. Refilling • The DEF tank will hold 5 gallons of Diesel Exhaust Fluid. The message center located on the dash has a green fluid level indicator above the fuel gauge. If the tank falls below 15% an audible reminder and message will appear, reminding you to refill the tank.

  6. Diesel Particulate Regeneration • 8415 is equipped with an after treatment diesel particulate filter. This type of exhaust system uses high heat and DEF to clean the exhaust before it leaves the tailpipe. • The following indicator lights may appear during operation to make the driver aware of the regeneration process

  11. Diesel Particulate Regeneration Safety Warning: The Diesel Particulate Filter has been designed by the OEM to perform the regeneration process while the vehicle is in motion. While the vehicle is performing regeneration exhaust gas temperatures can reach 1500 degrees. Although this should occur while the vehicle is in motion, care should be taken to avoid parking the apparatus within 5’ of items that can burn, melt, or explode.

  16. Manual Pump Engagement • Bring the vehicle to a stop. Place the transmission in Neutral and apply the parking brake.

  17. Manual Pump Engagement • Move the road to pump switch to Neutral.

  18. Manual Pump Engagement • Exit the cab and pull the manual T-handle located bottom right on the panel. Apply firm pressure to move the handle. When applied the handle will move approx 2 “.

  19. Manual Pump Engagement • If the handle will not move, place the transmission in R then D back to N. Repeat attempt to engage T-handle.

  20. Manual Pump Engagement • Return to the cab and activate the emergency pump switch. The red indicator light will come on. Place the transmission in Drive.

  21. Manual Pump Engagement • Reverse the engagement procedure to drive the vehicle.
