NLDEN. National Learning Disability and Ethnicity Network. History. It has been running for 5 years. It has 1400 members -you are some of them!!! All the members chose to join. It was given the money to begin by the Dept of Health. Then it got money from the Lloyds TSB foundation.

  1. NLDEN National Learning Disability and Ethnicity Network

  2. History • It has been running for 5 years. • It has 1400 members -you are some of them!!! • All the members chose to join. • It was given the money to begin by the Dept of Health. Then it got money from the Lloyds TSB foundation. • Now it gets some money from the Valuing People Support Team

  3. What it does. • It keeps everybody in touch with what is happening in the world of disability. • It keeps everybody in touch with what is happening in the world of ethnicity, • It helps people share good ideas and good news • It is helps people find out where they can get help with any questions.

  4. How does it do this? • It sends out regular newsletters (now 3 times a year) • It organizes a conference every year. • It has a website -www.lden.org.uk (where all the information is stored) • It emails important information to everyone.

  5. What else does it do? • It works closely with other organizations to put forward all the important things the members say and want. • It shares all these with the NAGLDE. • It makes sure regional meetings know what is happening in other parts of the country. • It supports groups with the same interests to work together.

  6. How does it work? • It is based at ARC in Chesterfield. ARC is an organization that works to improve lives of people with LD • It is part of the work of the BME Unit. • The unit is managed by Bridget Fisher • The network administrator is Pam Smith. • We can be contacted on 01246555043.

  7. The Network is…….. • But the Network is everybody who wants to be a member. • At the moment there is no charge to join. • Please help the Network by keeping touch and telling other people about it
