Vocabulary #1

  • Latitude- lines that run east and west, and measure north and south on a map

  • Longitude- lines that run north and south, and measure east and west on a map

  • Equator- 0 degrees latitude, separates the Earth into north and south hemisphere’s

  • Prime Meridian- 0 degrees Longitude, separates the Earth into east and west hemisphere’s

  • Abundant- having a lot of something, maybe more than is necessary

  • Liberty- freedom or independence from random government

  • Conclusion- your decision based on the information given to you

  • Colony- any people or territory that is controlled by an external (outside) government

  • Mercantilism- an economic theory that states the more trade a country controls, the stronger the country

  • Quaker- a religious group that believed everyone was equal, and that everyone possessed the power to guide themselves to heaven.
