State Legislative Update • Legislature reconvened January 6th – currently in 2nd year of 2-year session • Bill introduction deadline was February 21st • Hundreds of new bills introduced in January & February • Senate & Assembly policy committees meeting now • Bills reported to fiscal committee or Floor in house of origin May 2nd and May 9th, respectively

  3. State Legislative Update • Budget process running simultaneous to policy work • Governor’s May Revise • Budget deadline - midnight June 15th • New fiscal year begins July 1st • Summer recess - July 3rd to August 4th • Legislature’s final recess - August 31st • Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills - September 30th

  4. CCCCO Sponsored Bills • AB 1451 (Holden) – Concurrent Enrollment • Middle College & Early College High Schools • District Partnership Agreements • AB 2558 (Williams) – Professional Development • Expanded to classified and administrative staff • SB 965 (Leno) – Stabilization Funding for CCSF

  5. Bills of Interest • Concurrent Enrollment • AB 1540 ( Hagman) – Computer Science Courses • AB 2352 ( Chesbro) – Early & Middle College High Schools; enrollment priority • BA Degree • SB 850 (Block) – pilot program for high-need, high demand BA degrees • Adult Education • SB 173 (Liu)

Bills of Interest • Financial Aid • SB 174 (de Leon) - Increases amount of Cal Grant B award • SB 798 (de Leon) - College Access Tax Credit Fund • SB 1028 (Jackson) – Increase number of Cal Grant C awards • Inmate Education • SB 1391 (Hancock) – Waives open course requirements& provides full credit rate • Foster Youth • SB 1023 (Liu) - Funding for support of foster youth
