  3. INTRODUCTION GIVING is an ACT OF WORSHIP! The giver TRUSTS GOD with his or her resources.

  4. What can we give? Our Time Our Talent Our Treasure Why is it important that we focus on “money?”

  5. 1 Timothy 6:10.... “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (NIV)

  6. What we think about and how we handle “MONEY” can affect our eternity! Focus on MONEY.... • Why should we give? • What should we give? • To whom should we give it? • When should we give?

  7. MAIN POINTS 1. The Law Of The Harvest What is the “Law of the Harvest” all about?

  8. A. We Reap "WHAT" We Sow Proverbs 11:18.... “The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.”(NIV) Proverbs 26:27 Sow good, reap good... sow bad, reap bad!

  9. B. We Reap In "A DIFFERENT SEASON" Than We Sow Ecclesiastes 3:1,2.... “(v.1) There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: (v.2) a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot.”(NIV) Be patient!

  10. C. We Reap "MORE THAN" We Sow Matthew 13:8.... “Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop — a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”(NIV)

  11. D. We Reap "PROPORTIONATELY TO" What We Sow 2 Corinthians 9:6.... “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”(NIV)

  12. 2. The Principles Of Giving A. The Primary Principle Deuteronomy 10:14…. “To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” (NIV)

  13. When you give to the church you are GIVING TO THE LORD. STEWARDSHIP is about “management” or “managing what God place under our care.” Remember.... HE OWNS IT!

  14. "Parable of the talents" (Matthew 25:14-30) A GOOD STEWARD A POOR STEWARD God will reward you APPROPRIATELY!

  15. B. The Purpose Principle 1 Corinthians 16:1a…. “Now about the collection for God’s people….” (NIV) The “money” we give is “for God’s people” – the CHURCH!

  16. Malachi 3:10 The TITHE is to be brought into the local church … the “storehouse” for what purpose? To support the workings of the church.

  17. C. The Period Principle 1 Corinthians 16:2…. “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income ….” (NIV)

  18. When we go to church, part of our worship is that we participate in GIVING. You habituate yourself to GIVINGon a regular basis.

  19. D. The Participant Principle 1 Corinthians 16:2b…. “…. each one of you should set aside a sum of money ….” (NIV)

  20. No one should consider themselves exempted from GIVING. We are all part of the body and as such are expected to participate in it.

  21. E. The Proportion Principle 1 Corinthians 16:2c…. “…. set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income….” (NIV) How much should I give? …. in keeping with my income!

  22. New Testament.... Luke 6:38…. “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV) 2 Corinthians 9:7

  23. GIVINGten percent of your income is a good starting point. Don’t let your idea of TITHING stop you at that amount!

  24. CONCLUSION Why do we GIVE? Because we are THANKFUL for what God has given us. It is “an act of worship.”

  25. 2 Corinthians 9:8.... “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (NIV)

  26. Note.... When you loose your grip on money, God then begins to miraculously provide.

  27. Our motive is to WORSHIP GOD with all our soul, mind, strength, time, talent and treasure! Let’s pray!
