  1. Ecosouth Gift Initiative

  2. How the initiative works If clients book a trip over USD 2950.00 per person (excluding any domestic or international airfare) AND at some point touch down in Cape Town or Johannesburg, they will automatically be entitled to either receive a free gift or to give away a gift to an environment, animal or person in need. Please note that if clients do not touch down in Cape Town or Johannesburg, they will still be able to give away a gift. If clients choose to receive a gift, the gift together with a letter with your company letterhead will be delivered to their hotel prior to their arrival. If clients choose to give away a gift, we will make sure that the clients receive a personal note advising exactly how and who their gift assisted. We also try and support both ground roots and proudly South African members that benefit directly from gifts which get made for us such as leather laptop covers, ipad covers and bags. Over and above our initiative, all the hotels and lodges that we support in Southern Africa make their own contributions so clients really make a difference!!

  6. Where your money goes if you choose to give away If your client chooses to donate, we will put them in direct contact with the organisation that they are assisting. We have been in touch with each beneficiary who have confirmed that once funds have been received, they will send a certificate or notification that they have been received with a direct email and contact number should clients want to chat to someone at the organisation. We want to be as transparent as possible, so clients will know exactly where their funds have assisted. We have been very careful to choose charities and organisations that directly benefit the cause as we know that too often funds get absorbed into day to day admin and rarely make it to ground root level.

  7. Where we source our gifts if you choose to receive a gift Whether clients choose to give or receive a gift, many of our gifts are locally manufactured at ground roots level so clients are still making a difference to a life. We have local craftsman that make the ipad covers, iphone covers, scarves, bags and items such as salad servers. This simply means that someone is able to feed their family that night.

  8. Spay or neuter an animal We have chosen LEAPS as the beneficiary for donations to spay and neuter animals. We have a huge problem with stray animals who contribute to the ever increasing number of animals on our streets and the only way to manage numbers is to conduct spayathons. LEAPS run regular spayathons in townships in Cape Town. If you choose this as your beneficiary, we will put you in direct contact with Jolene who heads up the organisation and who will acknowledge receipt of the funds. She will also be available by phone or email should clients have any questions for her. https://www.facebook.com/leapsfbpage

  9. Help Save Our Rhino’s We have chosen Lalibela Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape as the beneficiary for helping to save our Rhinos. Their heart is totally in the right place and the money really does make it to the ground. All donations are deposited into a trust account and guests will receive a personal note from the marketing director to acknowledge this. Funds will go towards anti-poaching units in the reserve as they have lost rhino this year and we don’t want to see them lose anymore of these precious creatures. http://www.lalibela.net/you-can-help-save-our-rhino/

  10. Planting Tree’s to offset carbon emissions We have selected Greenpop as our beneficiary for contributing towards offsetting carbon emissions. The sponsored trees will be planted by Greenpop on your clients’ behalf or on your company’s behalf. Once the trees have been planted in one of Greenpop’s projects, your clients will receive a certificate with the GPS co-ordinates (if they have donated a full tree), so that they know exactly where their tree is growing! http://www.greenpop.org/give-trees/trees-for-travel/

  11. Feeding a child The beneficiary we have chosen is The Peninsula School Feeding Project based in Cape Town. This programme supports the belief that a hungry child cannot learn effectively on an empty stomach. PSFA currently feeds 330 000 children in 757 schools around Cape Town and the demand continues to grow. You can read more in the link below. http://www.psfa.org.za

  12. Level 1 gifts

  13. Level 2 gifts

  14. Level 3 gifts

  15. What if I dont like the gifts and giveaways in the category I have to choose from Should a client not like the selection of gifts and giveaways to choose from, we can gladly source something that may suit them better. Category 2 clients can also choose to rather select 2 of category 1 gifts and category 3 clients can choose to rather select 1 of category 1 gifts and 1 of category 2 gifts. The same can go for the charities that we have selected, if clients really do not want to support one of the beneficiaries that we have chosen to support and have something else in mind that they wish to contribute to, we can gladly look into this as an option.
