  2. Definition: e·piph·a·ny • A sudden manifestation of the essence or meaning of something. • b. A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization

  3. “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him” (Matthew 2:11). • “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn” (Is 60:3).

  4. Matthew 3:16-17 • “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

  5. Matthew 17:1-6 • After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

  6. … a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” • When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
