  2. Introduction to SiteMaker • The SiteMaker concept was born in 1998 at the UM Medical School • Dr. Jonathan Maybaum, Professor of Pharmacology led the pilot project • In Spring 2000, a pilot version was launched • It was made available campus-wide in the summer of 2001

  3. Purpose of SiteMaker • Help UM faculty, staff, and students create "well-organized, professional-looking websites, without the need for extensive help from technical staff” Click to launch SiteMaker

University Policies • Adhere to SPG 601.1 Freedom of Speech and Artistic Expression • Adhere to SPG 601.7, Proper Use of Information Resources, Information Technology, and Networks a the University of Michigan • You may not communicate under the rubric of an organization, entity, or unit that you do not have the authority to represent • Each and every user [must] accept responsibility to protect the rights of the community. • Access to the networks and to the information technology environment at the University of Michigan is a privilege and must be treated a such by all users of these systems. • See SPG for regulations and disciplinary actions • Adhere to SPG 601.16, Policy and Guidelines Regarding Electronic Access to Potentially Offensive Material • Purpose must be non-commercial (SPG 201.65-1)

What’s the Cost, and Who Pays For SiteMaker? • It’s free to UM faculty, staff and students • Hosting and Development is provided by • Office of the Provost • The Office of the Vice President for Research • The Technology Transfer Office, and • Many individual UM Schools and Colleges • Production is funded by the Provost and ITCS
