Description

Description

  • I proposed to convert the D&D 3.5 Monster Manual into an database and create an application that will pull monsters out based on a users criteria.

Outcomes

Outcomes

  • Created small test database using around 20 monsters and only using a couple of criteria: name, size, type, alignment, environment, ect.

  • Created 3 different versions of the application in VB to access database. Only version that works well is 2nd – not user friendly, 3rd would of fixed that but wont update data table.

Lessons learned

Lessons Learned

  • Learning Visual Basic

  • Learning how to use data in databases

  • Getting good at surfing Google searches

Demonstration

Demonstration

  • Using the Monster Generator v2

Improvements

Improvements

  • Get version 3 to work

  • Add all the stats and data into database

  • Create a template table for monster subtypes: Zombie, Skeleton, Vampire, ect.

  • Using the template table allow a join that adds the chosen template to a monster: Like if a user want to display stats for a “Zombie Umber Hulk” or “Vampire Deer”
