  1. “MITA PORTFOLIO 2014” Sting Ray Gagnon Grade: 10th Saldana My favorite activities include: playing video games, soccer, and swimming.

  2. ELAH • In English we had to write a paper describing the death penalty and how it was used on Lennie, one of the main characters. • To complete this assignment we needed to read an article on whether or not the death penalty should be enforced or not; then, give our opinions on the issue. • By doing this assignment I learned that I agree with the death penalty so it should be enforced. • I dislike how we had to follow a writing formula to complete the paper when if we could have done it without on it would have been much better.

  3. MATH • In algebra 2 we have been using a new curriculum named CPM. CPM allows students to work in groups with no teacher instruction and learn on their own. • We have learned to use functions, graphs, tables, inverses, 3 variable system equations, and logarithms. • To show our mastery of these skill they were placed in tests for us to complete and I averaged a 90% on them. • In order to go through the book we needed to work in our groups and go through every topic, most of the time struggling. • I dislike how we got no teacher input and had to learn basically everything on our own.

  4. TECHNOLOGY • We used a variety of technology in our classes but my favorite was Khan Academy. • In Khan Academy we got the teacher guide we needed in math, it explained the topics and gave us examples to be able to solve them. • We used it throughout the year and it was always the extra help we required. • Our math teacher often offered us extra credit for completing Khan Academy as well.

  5. Science • In Science we had to complete in the science far. We were allowed to create a project on any topic we desired in relation to science. • We used our problem solving skills in order to complete our project and we used our educated judgment to guess what would happen. • This work related to our whole year of science because it allowed us to use our experience in the labs we completed to simulate our own. • The final product concluded that we were correct and our previous knowledge did not fails us.

  6. AVID • In AVID we created a 10 page book consisting of our 21 SAT vocabs words in order to remember them and use them correctly. • We learned words that would more than likely appear on our upcoming SAT next year and the year after. • The process of creating a story that incorporated all 21 SAT words was rather difficult and cause us to create intricate plots. • I dislike how we only had 2 weeks to complete this project because if we had more we could have created stories that flowed my better than what we ended up making with our small window of time.

  7. Interests Assessment • Physical Therapist • Biology Teacher • Law Teacher

  8. College choices • The college of my choice would be UC Berkeley. I choose Berkeley because it offers most types of degrees which allows a lot more freedom of change while at school there. • Also, this college is very close to where I currently live so expenses would be drastically decreased since I would not be required to move anywhere to attend. • My GPA and test results also are within range of going to US Berkeley so I should be able to make it in without too much trouble or fear of being declined.

  9. Resources • Ms. Maharaj • Ms. Perry • Mr. Wee • Mr. Studer • Ms. Saldana • Wikipedia is a lifesaver
