  2. Tilburgs Festival - 1570 - First time time tilburgian festival was mentionedThe festival started a while ago with a “kermis”, which was then known as a yearmarket. It used to be for honoring god, but now-a-days it is mostly for entertainment, tourism, and children.

  3. 1896 – 1905 Willem II Gerard de Ruiter, student at the MTS in Amsterdam is on stage at the NS service-center In Tilburg. He loves the soccer game en he is in surch of some team members. But in that time soccer wasn’t really a well played sport in the North of Brabant. Luckily he is able to find 11 other persons to join him forming a team. On the 12th of August 1896 in a local café called Marinus the form a team called Tilburgia. One and a half year later, on the 12th of Januari 1898, Tilburgia was named Willem II after King Willem the second of Orange. Willem II had no own soccerfield, they played on different fields in the city.   4. Tilburg Trappers - On October 21, 1938 TIJSC (Tilburgsche ijs Sport Club) was founded.The club was officially recognized on January 18 and then they played their first match on March 3, 1939. But unfortunately they had lost the match against a team from Brussels with an end score of 6-2.

  5. ‘ second-hand’ statue of King Willem II: Tilburgs Festival - 1924 Statue Willem II placed during the Tilburgs Festival,The statue is a ‘ second-hand’ statue, it originally was in the Hague. It was made by the artist E.F. Georges. It was made in Paris and showed in march 1854.In 1920, the Hague wanted a new statue. The old statue was sold to Tilburg, and was showed by princess Wilhelmina in 1924. The four women on the edges represent four allorgies: Kingdom, Justice, Beauty and wealth.

  6. 1924 – 1939 Willem II - In 1920, on the Goirleseweg, the “Roman Catholic Tilburgs Sportaccommodation” was build. But Willem II wasn’t the home club of this beautiful new build Sports place, it was the home of NOAD. But NOAD got into financial problems so they had to move. So Willem II signed a contract on 1924 and hired the “Tilburgs Sportpark” for 10 years. Willem II reached to win the title: “Champions of the south”. And they promoted from second to first class but unfortunately the lost and demote back to second class. 1933 – Tilburgs Festival: -New coaster, 150 meters long, 15m high.

  7. Tilburg Trappers - In 1946-1976 the Tilburg Trappers can call themselves “champion of the Netherlands” for the first time. In the later years they won this title for 12 times more and even 6 times in a row starting at 1970-1971 until 1975-1976. In this six seasons the Tilburg Trappers won 131 games, the lost 8 times and they had a draw for 3 times! In the season of 1972-1973 the cup competition was introduced in the Netherlands. The Tilburg Trappers won this cup the first 4 times in a row. Willem II: -1946 The accommodation was ruined. The Tilburg-community bought it, toured it down and made a new one, with a stadium and 3 other soccer fields. -1956 The first international player called: Kurt Zaro, was bought. -1959 18.000 people watch willem ii. This is way behind expectations!
