Indian Post office Act • Sec 11 - Liability for payment of postage • Sec 12 – Recovery of postage & other sums due in respect of postal articles • Sec 13 – Customs duty paid by the PO to be recoverable as postage • Sec 14 – PO marks prima facie evidence of certain facts denoted • Sec 15 – Official mark to be evidence of amount of postage

  9. Indian Post office Act • Sec 49 – Penalty for misconduct of person employed to carry of delivery bags/articles • Fine upto Rs. 50/- • Sec 50 – Penalty for voluntary withdrawal from duty, without permission to carry/deliver bags/articles • Imprisonment for one month, fine upto Rs.50/- or both

Indian Post office Act • Sec 51 – Penalty for making false entry in register kept by person employed to carry or deliver postal articles • Imprisonment upto 6 months,or fine upto to 100/- or both • Sec 52 – Penalty for theft, dishonest misappropriation, secretion, destruction or throwing away of postal articles • Imprisonment upto 7 years or fine

  11. Indian Post office Act • Sec 53 – Penalty for opening, detaining or delaying postal articles • Imprisonment for 2 years or fine or both • Sec 54 – Penalty for fraud in c/w official marks and for receipt of excess postage • Imprisonment upto to 2 year & also fine

  12. Indian Post office Act • Sec 55 – Penalty for fraudulently preparing, altering, secreting of destroying PO documents • Imprisonment upto 2 years and also fine • Sec 56 – Penalty for fraudulently sending unpaid postal articles • Imprisonment upto 2 year and also fine

  14. Indian Post office Act • Sec 67 – Penalty for detaining mails or opening mail bag • Fine upto Rs.250/- • Sec 68 – Penalty for retaining postal articles wrongly delivered or mail bags • Imprisonment upto to six months and also fine
