This is only a partial list but some commonalities can be found • The Industrial Revolution had given rise to even more competition between nations for military, political and economic power. • Africa, Latin America, the Arab World and Asia were under foreign influence. • New nations were becoming powerful militarily and economically-e.g. the US and Japan • The conditions for a major world war were set. It would only be a matter of time.
