Cleopatra & Julius Ceasar • Eager to take advantage of Julius Caesar's anger with Ptolemy, Queen Cleopatra returned to the palace rolled into a Persian carpet and had it presented to Caesar by her servants • Caesar was charmed by the gesture, and she became his mistress • Despite a more than thirty year age difference, Cleopatra and Caesar became lovers during his stay in Egypt

Cleopatra & Marc Anthony • Antony spent a winter in Alexandria with Cleopatra (41-40 BCE), and then left. • They went through a sort of marriage ceremony in 36 BCE. • In 30 BCE, Marc Antony killed himself, reportedly because he'd been told that Cleopatra had been killed, and when yet another attempt to keep power failed, Cleopatra killed herself.

The Death • Cleopatra poisoned herself by inducing an asp to bite her • Cleopatra's children were taken to Rome. • Caligula later executed Ptolemy Caesarion, and Cleopatra's other sons simply disappear from history and are assumed to have died. • Cleopatra's daughter, Cleopatra Selene, married Juba, king of Numidia and Mauretania

  7. Egypt and Cleopatra's Children After Cleopatra's Death • Egypt became a province of Rome, ending the rule of the Ptolemies. Cleopatra's children were taken to Rome. Caligula later executed Ptolemy Caesarion, and Cleopatra's other sons simply disappear from history and are assumed to have died. Cleopatra's daughter, Cleopatra Selene, married Juba, king of Numidia and Mauretania.

Her contribution… • Nowadays philosophers think that Cleopatra was an ugly woman. • She was adored by the men because of her great skills in the bed and loved by others because of her great personality and knowledge. • “You don’t have to be beautiful to rule the world and conqer men’s hearts. Intelligence, skills and persona matter more.”
