EDPRS IWG Objectives • Eight IWGs are being created, as forums for policy discussion and coordination among GoR (at Central and Province Levels) and Development Partners, to improve implementation. • Each IWG comprises a number of sectors (including relevant line Ministries, government agencies and development partners) • Each will be supported by a Secretariat, and chaired by the SG of the lead Ministry and co-chaired by the lead Donor representative

EDPRS IWG Objectives (Cont’d) • The primary role of the IWGs is: • to ensure cross-sectoral coordination in policy implementation • to discuss policy issues and monitor implementation • to update the EDPRS Results and Policy Matrix • to address implementation bottle-necks and provide recommendations on way forward • IWGs will meet quarterly to discuss progress. Key outputs are to: • Produce biannual ‘traffic lights’ progress reports on relevant sections of the EDPRS Results and Policy Matrix, in March and August • Based on these reviews, discuss and recommend necessary revisions of targets and policy actions • There will also be Cross-Cutting Issues (CCIs) Working Groups, whose main objective is to attend the IWG meetings and ensure sustainable development and CCIs are represented in the IWG discussions and actions.

Moving Forward: 3 requests • MINECOFIN requests the lead Donors to provide technical and financial assistance to the secretariat of their respective IWG • MINECOFIN requests all chosen lead Ministries and Donors to agree to the new responsibilities laid out in the document • Under the direction of MINECOFIN, stakeholders are requested to organise preliminary IWG meeting by August 2008
