GENERAL CONDITION LOCATION This port is very strategic because it is located in the international shipping lane and geographically it’s position in : 03 – 43’ – 00’ LU North Latitude 98 – 42’ – 08’ BT East Longitude Belawan Container Terminal is located at the mouth of Belawan River and Deli River with shipping channel that measures 13,5 km in length connecting the port to the sea in Malacca straits. The port is around 30 km away from Medan, the capital of North Sumatra province, with total area 300.200 m2 Gabion Belawan Container Terminal Situated at the north east of Sumatera island which located approximately 27 km from the centre of Medan, the provincial capital of North Sumatera facing. Malacca Strait, the port of Belawan has steadily grown and become the largest port in Sumatera and the third largest port in Indonesia after Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta and Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya. The port is an integrated international port handling all types of cargo (general cargo, container, bulk etc). Gabion Belawan Container Terminal is the biggest Container Terminal located at Belawan port. In term of total cargo throughput in 2007 GBCT handled 581.378 TEUS,
