  1. Helping Business Awareness in Schools

  2. Give your students a chance to be part of a sick child’s healing process – and let them do this in real time

  3. Learn Business Awareness by fundraising for the Bubblegum Club’s Alton Towers trip for Sick Children

  4. The Bubblegum Club The Bubblegum Club is an Irish registered charity, whose mission is to provide extraordinary experiences for extraordinary children, many of whom suffer from life threatening illness, long term debilitating illness or are disadvantaged in some other way.

  5. Overview • Provides professional care in a fun environment – giving kids a great boost, but also providing a well-earned break for the parents, family and carers. • The Bubblegum Club was founded in 1994 by Peter Harris and has now helped over 20,000 children. • Staffed by volunteers – a mixture of nurses, doctors, professional careers, business and professional people and suitably vetted helpers. We have developed great experience and supportive contacts which enable us to put on a fantastic show quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

  6. Why Do It? • For the sick child, the anticipation, the participation and the reminiscing about the experience of events like the Bubblegum Alton Towers trip helps take their mind off the everyday fear, pain and difficulties that they live with. • For sick children, going on trips like this with other sick children frees them the fear of being different.

  7. Bubblegum Club Events and Special Days • Group events include the Ski Trip, Alton Towers, the Helicopter Garden Party and the spectacular Winter Wonderland • One-off days for children with exceptional requirements – every one unique and probably the last defining day in that child’s life. • These special days are not high-profile and publicity is often the last thing that is sought so you may not be aware of them, but they are without doubt the difference between The Bubblegum Club and many other charities – the children don’t just come first – they are the only thing that matters!

  8. Business Awareness in Schools • Fundraising can be treated as a small enterprise with a very measurable target. • It has the added advantage that the students can get the real life interaction with the children that their fundraising efforts are helping.

  9. Fundraising as a Business • Research the charity and fundraising possibilities • Establish targets • Research and implement the running of committees • Minute taking • Chairing meetings • Ownership of agenda items • Experience Financial responsibilities first hand • Open bank account • Track money • Insurance requirements for fundraising events • Costing of fundraising egtshirts, printing, getting discounts etc • Plan donations to offset costs • Public Relations and Digital Marketing • Organise coverage in local newspapers and radio • Research and organise social media to promote fundraising events • Event Management • Fundraising events • Coordination of rosters

  10. Aim for the students • Run a small enterprise. • Achieve the target. • Experience the how the money raised impacts the children helped. • Increase the awareness that their work can make a difference to the lives of people less fortunate than themselves. • Possible chance to volunteer on the Alton towers trip.

  11. How The Bubblegum Club Will Help We have been helping children for 20 years and have wealth of fundraising and business experience to pass onto the students. We will: • Organise speakers to visit the school – either volunteers from the charity or children who have experienced the charity • Give fundraising ideas and PR tips • Give direction to students and teachers if required in how to manage their fundraising – tips on minute taking, setting up committees etc

  12. Student Involvement in the Event • Schools will receive a certificate and will be sent a postcard from the children on the trip. • Photos and stories will be posted on our website and facebookpage. • Chance to help on the Alton Towers trip. • All the children and doctors, helpers etc on the trip will be made aware of where the funds have come from.
