  1. Contrasting the Old vs. Middle vs.New Kingdoms By: Daniel Gallagher

  2. Websites and Summary • Contrasting the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms is about the differences between the kingdoms. It also tells how powerful the three kingdom were in times before Christ. In some parts, it tells what they did and why they did these things. • Websites used: • www.king-tut.org.uk • www.wsu.edu • www.egyptologyonline.com • www.discoveringegypt.com • www.richland.k12.wi.us

  3. The First Kingdom • The first kingdom, the Old Kingdom, was mainly known for the building of the most famous landmarks.

  4. Famous Landmarks • The most famous buildings are the Sphinx and the Pyramids.

  5. Landmark Timeline • The Sphynx (a man’s head on a lions body) and the Pyramids were all built between 2650 and 2134.

  6. Kingdoms of War • The Old Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom were the two kingdoms that were known for fighting.

  7. The First Fighting Kingdom • In the Old Kingdom, all the kings of the first two dynasties had to fight constant wars with worthy opponents all along the Nile River. • In the Middle Kingdom, there were many military wars against Nubia. • Amenemhat I launched a war against Nubia • Amenemhat II fought against Levant • The Seventeenth Dynasty defeated Hykso and reunited Egypt

  8. Changes in Religion • The third kingdom, the New Kingdom, saw odd changes in religion because King Akhenaten worshipped only one god, Aten (a sun god), rather than all the gods (polytheistic).

  9. Conquering the Jews • The New Kingdom is also known for conquering the Jews.

  10. Conclusion • Looking at the three kingdoms, I liked the Old Kingdom the most. I think the architecture was really cool. I have seen pictures of the Sphynx and the Pyramids and I would like to go and see them in person. • Thank you.
