  3. WHAT’S TWITTER? We came across the word "twitter," and it was just perfect. The definition was "a short burst of inconsequential information," and "chirps from birds." What makes Twitter so unique? -It’s a social network and micro blogging service that allow the users to follow (subscribe) other users. -Users post messages limited to no more than 140 characters. -These “tweets”, or messages, will appear on the author’s profile page. -Each “tweet” is publicly visible by default. • -The users can also group their “tweets” by topic, simply by typing # (hash tags) before the word or phase • -The “@” symbol followed by the username is used to address a reply message specifically from another user. • - The “Twitter Lists” is a feature that first began in late 2009 to help organize the members of the network. • -The service also includes Twitpic (for picture), memozu.com and NotePub (online Notepad) for content hosting service.
