  2. Cyberbullying • Video • Have any of you had an experience with cyberbullying? • What did you do about it?

  3. The Effects • 25% of teens have been cyber bullied • 14% considered suicide • 7% attempted it What can we do to lower these percentages? (Bullying and Suicide, 2009)

  4. Prevention • Anti-bullying legislation exists 49 states • Teachers are obligated by law to stop bullying • Prevention programs exist such as NBPC and Olweus (Constitutional Rights Foundation, 2013) (Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, 2013)

Bullying Prevention Programs • Olweus Bullying Prevention Program • Used for elementary, middle, and high school levels • Main procedure is to get community involved in bully prevention • (Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, 2013) • What role do you think the community plays in bullying? • Hazelden • Very focused on Cyberbullying • Uses tools to teach kids how to respect one another • Puts students through an interactive training • (Anti-Bullying Resources, 2013)
