  2. AGENDA FOR THIS MORNING Why Stan and I are speaking to you this morning The process we went through to assess our barriers to growth. How we went about overcoming those barriers and preparing our club for growth Questions we will conclude with Interactive sharing of ideas for service and fundraising projects

  3. WHY WE ARE SPEAKING TO YOU We were asked to share our success story Our club was failing badly Grew from 5 to 18 members in the first 6 months of the 13/14 Kiwanis year.

  4. ASSESSING OUR SITUATION • We were not attracting new members • We had a visibility and awareness issue No signature service projects No signature fundraising events No publicity at all No community awareness of Kiwanis No community awareness of our club Minimal resources

  5. SO WHAT DID WE DO ABOUT IT? Devised a PLAN to improve our circumstances We decided to try the 3-2-1 format (Oct 01, 2011) We focused our attention on what we felt was our first priority – increasing our Visibility and Community Awareness

  6. WEBSITE MAJOR OVERHAUL www.parisbrantkiwanis.org Switched to KiwanisOne website support Pictures Connectivity to main KI website Event and meeting notices Advertised our website on everything Volunteer registry Added Corporate member tabs

  7. PUBLICITY Meeting notices in community events (newspapers) Articles in free newspapers (local and nearby) Letter to the Editors Quarterly reports to newspapers Announcements of inductions and installations with pictures Announcements of upcoming events Thank you letters Facebook and other social media

  8. VISIBLE PARTNERSHIPS Salvation Army Library - Miles for Loonies Arts after school programs School fairs Annual Festivals and Streetfests Any volunteer opportunities with other visible organizations Walk for Grannies Helping to serve special dinners in Seniors’ residences

  9. OTHER MARKETING Kiwanis clothing “Ask me about Kiwanis” buttons Bookmarks, brochures Use all those old Convention bags for grocery shopping Food drives with KI labeled bags Event posters...using school distributions (with permission) Talk about Kiwanis at ever available opportunity Signage, banners Participate in public meetings

  10. SO WHAT’S THE MESSAGE? If lack of visibility is a barrier to your growth, take a serious look at whatever you are doing to serve your communities and ask yourself, “is this contributing to our need for visibility?” If not, what can I do to change that?

  12. PROJECTS This part of the program will address ideas for organizing service and fundraising projects that will: - provide relevant service to your community - increase public awareness - do it with limited financial and human resources
