  1. Tips to deal with Lip infections Lip infections include any type of cut, ulcer, blister and lesion in the lips. These infections are painful and disturbing causing discomfort during eating. Lip infections cream are also available for the treatment of the same.

  2. Reasons for lip infections are numerous. Some of the important ones include excess consumption of citrus fruit, lack of hygiene, bad eating habits and side effects from some food or medicines.

  3. Lip infections are common nowadays and if proper and timely treatment is not done it may lead to severe bacterial and fungal infections. There are various ways by which these infections may be treated. Some of them are listed in the following slides.

  4. Use of saltwater: Saltwater can be a miraculous healer of these lip infections. Salt due to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties helps in the cleaning of wounds. For application in the wound salt must be dissolved in lukewarm water and with the help of cotton balls must be applied locally in the wound. You may feel a slight burning sensation due to the application of salt.

  5. Tropical application of turmeric is also advised in some cases: Turmeric due to its anti-inflammatory properties may be applied into the wound directly. Turmeric has a compound named curcumin which promotes healing of the wound. Turmeric paste for application is prepared by mixing 3 teaspoons of turmeric in cold water. The mixture is applied to the wound and allowed to dry. 

  6. Baking soda is also recommended in some cases of infection due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic property. Die to the same baking soda is thought to promote healing of infections.

  7. Cleaning with soap water is another simple yet effective way to control lip infections. Soapy water helps in cleaning the area and also stops any secondary infections in the process. Aloe vera gel can also be used for the treatment of infections. Directly cutting the aloe vera leaf and applying the gel in the infected area may help in the healing process.

  8. Use of cold compress with the help of ice packs can help you in reducing swelling if any due to lip infections. Swelling is a common problem associated with lip infections and can be taken care of by the use of cold compress which helps in stimulating blood flow and also speed up the recovery. A cold compress can be used by wrapping ice cubes in a towel and applying the same in the lip with light pressure.

  9. Milk can also be used for the treatment of lip infections. The lactic acid in milk can helps in reducing swelling also fights the infection and promotes healing. Milk should be applied directly into the lips and washed off with cold water.
