NCAR Atmospheric Technology Division Networking hardware • 100BaseT w/RJ-45 • Details of layout determined during field setup time • Expect 30-40 machines at one time • T-1 (~1.5Mbits) to Internet • Some bandwidth reserved for data feeds • Behind firewall machine • Use scp, sftp and ssh to get in/out • Google putty ssh download to get Windows s-tools for free • 802.11b wireless networking also available (shared 11 Mbits)

  5. NCAR Atmospheric Technology Division Services, etc. • DHCP for IP addresses and routing settings • One networked color printer • 6 FX-Net workstations with large monitors • Laptop hookup area • VPN client for NCAR users • No UPS for user machines • Cheatsheets provided in the field

NCAR Atmospheric Technology Division Staffing • Senior Systems Administrators for first two weeks • Student SA for duration of project, with senior SAs available for remote support • Expect to establish normal office hours, SA in field will have a cellphone • On-site Zebra support for first 4 weeks, remote support afterwards
