NEW REGULATION:Evaluation & Student Growth Data • New regs tie Teacher & Administrator Evaluation to Student Growth Data • 2015-16 SY = 20% • 2016-17 SY = 35% • 2017-18 SY = 50% • “Student Growth” refers to GROWTH, not proficiency • Student Growth Data is aggregate • SpEd: Growth data might consist of skills outlined in IEP

NEW REGULATION:Evaluation & Student Growth Data • 2-4 Measures: • State assessment data • Other measures selected in consultation with principals and teachers • Must be comparable across grade levels and schools • Non-numerical measurements allowed: e.g., writing portfolios • Assessment Review Committee next week: MAP

District-wide Writing Assessment • District-wide Writing Assessments are FORMATIVE! • Provide teachers information about their students so that instruction may be adjusted/tailored in response • Provide district with trends in skill levels • Prepare students for format of current SBA (preparation of ECRs) • Collaborative PD for teachers in scoring process

District-wide Writing Assessment • Next week: • 6-trait language in your classroom • Scoring to inform students using Ed Northwest samples • Week of January 28-February 1: • Preparation of student writing samples • Grades K-5 = 3 or 4 Sessions • Brainstorm/Prewrite; Rough Draft; Edit/Revise; Final Copy • Grades 6-12 = 2 sessions • Brainstorm/Prewrite/Rough Draft; Edit/Revise/Final Copy

District-wide Writing Assessment Prompts will be provided for each grade level Paper-pencil event Accommodations for students with IEPs Schedules to be determined by sites Collection of materials from sites on Wednesday, Feb. 6th Scoring will occur during district-wide in-service on Friday, February 8th Results prepared during in-service & back to sites that day
