The mission of USAA’s student internship program is to assist students in obtaining
the practical and inter-personal skills required to manage and operate a corporate
fitness facility and become a qualified fitness professional.
Students accepted into our internship program will develop skills and competencies
through hands on experience and practical application of the following:
FITNESS EVALUATION & EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION:
Based on ACSM protocol you will learn:
-sub maximal VO2 testing -body composition -nutrition guidance
-muscular strength & endurance -goal setting -personal training
WELLNESS, HEALTH PROMOTION, EDUCATION & PROGRAMMING:
-health seminars -newsletters -educational bulletin boards
-incentive programming -conduct recreation events -special projects
GROUP EXERCISE CLASS INSTRUCTION:
Learn to instruct a variety of group classes including:
-step -kickboxing -body toning
-indoor cycling -circuit -specialty classes
-facility management -inventory -budgeting & purchasing
-client interaction -emergency procedures -daily operations
-resume preparation -interviewing skills -professional networking
-community involvement -facility tours
