  2. Leading Intervention 4 30th November 2010

  3. Aims for the session • Ideas for managing change • Teaching and learning for revision • Resourcing intervention

  4. Effecting change – influencing people “Stakeholder mapping” – a tool to • visualise stakeholders’ involvement and impact • prioritise actions designed to influence other stakeholders

  5. Same difference? What characteristics are the same and different for: • intervention • revision • catch-up

  6. Key messages Mix and match Strategy and other resources for maximum effectiveness. Build in fun! Give appropriate rewards! Plan the how and when of Intervention. Don’t fill time for the sake of it. Short intensive bursts may have more impact than extended sessions. Monitor, assess and review the target group and other pupils. Be aware that groups may need to change. Does your intervention model fulfil its aims?

  7. There’s more to revision than past papers Use past papers effectively, not just working through questions Revision powerpoints and games – build in fun for engagement! Pair and group work is more effective than individual work Little and often rather than a block of exam paper practice Undertake pre-emptive “script analysis” from previous examination papers Revise rather than re-teach

  8. Sharing GAP TASK – Bring back a completed model to share, and ideas for effective intervention in your school

  9. Action Points Gap task Explore the resources and bring recommendations for colleagues to the next session. Leading Intervention 5 Tuesday11th January 9-12 Pitmaston!! Leading Intervention 6 Thursday 10th February 8-10 Finstall
