  5. Comprehensive School Counseling Program Purpose of the Counseling Program is to empower ALLstudents, regardless of individual differences, to acquire the academic, career, and personal/socialfoundationsnecessary to positively contribute to a changing society.

Registration Procedure • Registration forms will be handed out to the incoming Freshman students at St. Paul’s & St. Joseph’s on 2/10/14 and at JLMS on 2/11/14 • Registration forms will be collected at St. Joseph’s on 2/17/14 and at St. Paul’s & JLMS on 2/18/14 . • Check prerequisites for courses selected • Please make sure you as parent/guardian sign registration form. • Special Education registration at JLMS will be on 2/13/14.

Registration Form • Courses required for graduation are listed • Two elective spots should be filled in keeping in mind what your son/daughter may have planned after high school… (Two or four year college? Technical College? Apprenticeship? Military? ) • Make sure that your son/daughter pursues “the most rigorous curriculum with which they are comfortable, keeping in mind their future post-secondary goals.”

  16. Frequently Asked Scheduling Questions ? Can they change a class prior to the start of the school year? Can they choose which semester to have a study hall? Can they change classes once the school year has started? Can they drop a class for a study hall?

  32. College Planning Entrance Requirements • Class Rank • College Core Credits • ACT/SAT Scores (Most schools use these as their primary criteria for selection. However, additional items such as extra-curricular activities, community service, interviews, leadership, etc… may be considered.)

  33. Things to be aware of… • Class Rank -Importance of top 10% (& ACT) • In state vs. Out of state requirements -RAI Score (regent admission index) combination of ACT, Percentile Rank & Core Courses • In the UW System, students will change their major on average 3 times (UW>HELP Office)
