  3. Lessons learned • MDGs important catalyst • Did not specify means or strategies for achieving goals • Did not anticipate threats, need to address root causes, or interdependence of poverty and hunger

  4. Pathway to ending hunger • Sustainable agricultural growth • Right to food and nutrition sensitive policies • More equitable food systems • Social protection • National political commitment • Public and private investment • Transparent and inclusive governance

  7. Food Security and Nutrition consultation in Madrid “Hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition can be ended sustainably by 2025. Eradication of hunger and malnutrition must be definitive and irreversible based on right of everyone to safe, nutritious and affordable food. Bold and effective action is urgent and both a moral and political imperative.”
