  2. What is CTE? • Career and Technical Education • Prepares your students for college majors and careers • Prepares your students for part time jobs and internships where CTE skills can be utilized

  3. Marketing • This course is designed to help students develop basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will prepare them to enter the field of marketing.

  4. Strategic Marketing Honors course for students majoring in Marketing College level textbook / DECA Club competition • The impact of marketing on society • Procedures used in buying behavior • Procedures to manage marketing information • Procedures to develop and manage products • Pricing procedures • Promotion • Marketing channels, supply chain management, and retail operations • Global marketing A Marketing Research project , an Advertising Campaign project and an International Business Plan project are required as part of the Strategic Marketing Curriculum. Students will be able to compete at the state DECA competition in March with one of these written events.

  9. ENTERINGCLASS Be prepared with supplies and class-work. You are to be in your assigned seat BEFOREthe bell rings. Complete the Warm-up assignment immediately.

  10. ATTENDANCE Attendance is crucial. It is the students’ responsibility to speak with the instructor about any missed assignments. Check parent assistant for missing work or check my wiki page for power points and assignments you missed. Arrangements to make up late work must be made within five school days of your return to school. If an assignment is due on the date you are absent, it is due the DAY YOU RETURN. You do not get additional time to complete assignments assigned before your absence. If work is turned in late, students will be penalized.  Students have two days to turn in late work and 10% of the grade will be deducted for each day the work is late.  A zero will be given for work not submitted in two days.  Homework will be collected at the beginning of class.  If assignments are turned in after the teacher has collected, 10% of the grade will be deducted. Make up work is not to be done during class time.

  11. SUPPLIES NEEDED Writing Materials – Pens, pencils, highlighter and thin line dry erase marker Paper – Loose leaf paper Binder – 1 ½” or 2” binder with index tabs Flash drive. ALL students must have a backup to their work. Clear sheet protector for BINGO review 1 ream of copy paper

Standard Level GRADING • Percentages excluding exams: Grades: • Each Grading Period: A - 100% - 93% • Tests /Projects– 50%B - 92% - 85% • Assignments/Participation – 30%C - 84% - 77% • Quizzes-20%D - 76% - 70% • F - 69% - Below • Mid-term Grading Period Exam counts 20% and • Final Exam counts 25% of total grade

CLASSROOM RULES • NO bathroom passes (except emergencies) • Raise your hand and wait to be called on • No food or drinks except water • No chewing gum while presenting (5 point deduction) • Nointerruptions i.e. throw away trash, sharpen pencils, etc. while someone is presenting • Do not THROW any object at any time, including trash at the trash can or recycle box. • All CMS rules and guidelines will be enforced.

  15. CONSEQUENCES • Verbal Warning and call home • After School Detention from 2:30-3:30 on Mondays, 48 hour notice given 3. Referral to Administration

Plagiarism/Copying/Cheating • “Copy and Paste” is plagiarism and will result in a 0 for the project or paper, your parent/guardian will be advised, and an immediate referral will be written for an honor code violation. • Copying or cheating off another student’s work/quiz/test or letting a student copy your work/quiz/test will result in a 0 for the assignment for both students, your parents/guardians will be advised, and referrals will be written for an honor code violation.

  18. Class expectations • 90% of students will achieve 85% or greater on EVERY quiz/test (Shark Tank reward) • 100% will make state proficiency on the final exam • WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER!
