  2. Let’s Talk Money • For the next 20 minutes, this class is going to be run differently…. • You will be placed in partnerships and it is your job to brainstorm all of the costs of living. • Pretend you are moved out of your parents’ house and you are forced to be completely independent. • Don’t forget the extras that go along with the necessities

  3. Discussion • What is your reaction to what we did as a class? Are you surprised at the cost of living? Cost of college? • What are your plans for the future? How are you going to make this work?

  4. How Are You Going to Afford This? • Discussion: • Where do you go to search for jobs? How do you know if you are qualified? What options are open to you when trying to find a place to work? • What is a resume? What is the purpose of a resume? • What is a cover letter? Why is it so important to compose one of these? How do you make yourself stand out amongst all other applicants?

  5. Finding a Job: What Options Do You Have? • Homework: • Look through newspapers, online postings, and company websites for jobs that you could get right now. • Find one-two job postings/websites and print them out. • Guidelines: • Job must meet your age and experience qualifications. • Company must have a name and website (check this out before printing anything). • Try to find postings that are detailed and are looking for specific types of people.
