Reasons Historically combined or small SHeS Fife sample Previous Fife Health & Lifestyle Surveys (1996 and 2001) Objectives: To measure health behaviours, to monitor trends, to monitor progress towards targets, provide baseline information for planning initiatives, interventions and creating strategies, to contribute to performance management

  3. Reasons Early 2006 - discussions already ongoing about new FHLS Early 2006 - consultation on future options for SHeS Late 2006 – new FHLS put on hold pending SHeS developments

  4. Reasons Mid 2007 – pros and cons analysis of FHLS vs SHeS Mid 2007 - consultation across Fife Partnership

Reasons Sept 2007 – information gaps highlighted during NHS Fife Annual Review Oct 2007 – action plan to address information gaps in health improvement and health inequalities End 2007 – decision taken to boost sample and boost commissioned by Public Health and 3 CHPs End 2007 - discussions about size and type of boost

  6. Results Fife Core Sample: ~ 405 adults each year Fife Boost Sample: ~ 200 adults each year Fife Sample 08-11: ~ 2420 adults and 806 in each CHP
