  3. HISTORY • The first reference to the castle dates back to 1289. In 1359 the Moravian margrave Jan Jindřich joined it to his landed estate.Between 1396 and 1399 the castle gets into a possessionof the House of Valdštejn. The castle was badly damaged during the Hussite wars and it has been a ruin for nearly 500 years.

Only the main prismatic wall of the castle is original. • The castle was under the vast reconstruction . • In a new built-up palace there is a large ceremonial hall. • New ramparts were also added. • The result of the reconstruction, finished before 1380, was so called a double-castle with a bailey. • In this period the castle was heated up by fireplaces and tiled stoves. The Valdštejns also built a warm air heating system.

  5. Research and conservation • Originally rescue research started in 1981. Nowadaysit belongs to the biggest researches of this kind of sights not only in our country, but also in Central Europe. • The conservation and stabilization of the castle structure proceeded during 2002 - 2010.The total expense reached 7 million crowns.
