  2. Highlights of WP19What has happened the past years? • Data from more than 1000 surveys carried out onboard from research vessels and VOS lines was gathered and archived • Data management served as a hub for data requests and services not just for project members • Data portal was launched • Collaboration with other projects, data centers, organizations and scientists

  3. Highlights of WP19What has happened the past years? Data products • CARINA (CT 2 effort > talk by T. Tanhua about CARINA) • SOCAT was initiated in 2007 and V1.3 is ready for QC via LAS

  4. Delivered data is • archived at WDCs (often with intellectual property rights if requested) • ready for export to CDIAC if not already at CDIAC – many will be public with release of SOCAT • data from discrete and underway observations • data was obtained by CARBOOCEAN and non-project members

  5. Most of the delivered data

  6. CARBOOCEAN data

  7. Pre-CARBOOCEAN data

  8. What is CARBOOCEAN data? Every partner signed the data policy which states: Rights and responsibilities • CARBOOCEAN is based on partial funding from the European Commission. Consequently, the participating parties agree on the submission of data and knowledge to the project relevant data bases. Additionally, the participating parties agree on the submission of data and knowledge produced from other funding sources to the project relevant data bases if they generate an added value in the context of CARBOOCEAN Please submit relevant data to Alex or me 

  9. CARBOOCEAN data portal(WDC-MARE) • a metadata search engine (like Google) for CARBOOCEAN relevant data • was launched in 2005 • was the first data portal in the field of marine science • combines metadata from several WDCs (e.g., CDIAC, IFREMER-Sismer, WDC-MARE) at one search engine

  11. Data products • CARINA (CT2 leader D. Wallace) • input database for SOCAT (B. Pfeil, A. Olsen, A. Kozyr and many more)

  15. CARINA > presentation by Toste Tanhua et al!

  16. Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas

  17. SOCAT • Initiated in 2007 by UNESCO/IOCCP • Community effort (many CARBOOCEAN Pis are involved) • is currently being secondary QCed • > 7,5 mill subsurface CO2 observations • > 2100 cruises covering 4 decades • LAS is used for visualization and documentation (S. Hankin & J. Malcyzk, NOAA/PMEL) > poster presentation • input database for SOCAT was compiled by data management group with help from Are Olsen More information talk by D. Bakker

  18. Live Access Server SOCAT J. Malczyk and S. Hankin (NOAA/PMEL) See poster presentation

  19. Thank you very much to • All data providers for sharing data! • Are Olsen (BCCR) • U. Schuster, N. Lefevre, N. Metzl, B. Tilbrook, R. Feely, Y. Nojiri, V. Sarma, A. Chen, A. Borges, D. Bakker, C. Sabine, K. Tedesco, M. Hood, J. Malcyzk & S. Hankin • Alex Kozyr, Bob Key & Doug Wallace • C. Heinze &T. Johannessen (BCCR/UiB) • COST Action 735 & Y. Nojiri (NIES) for funding meetings • everyone working at WDC-MARE • and many more…

  20. And thank you as well for • being able to meet so many lovely people! • all the talks, feedback, experiences and fun I had on my trips 

  21. And thank you as well for • being able to meet so many lovely people! • all the talks, feedback, experiences and fun I had on my trips  Air miles of marine CO2 data management… I guess Alex beats me!
