  1. Helicity Magnet Update Grames, Yves, Chao, Michele, Dickson, Flood, Cumbia BTeam Meeting, 10 January 2006 • Helicity Magnets for PQB Feedback • Helicity Magnets for PZT Booster

  2. Helicity Magnets Commissioning • ATLIS 4271 w/ new PC104 magnet card on 12/22, 2005 • All 4 helicity magnets appear to be linear, independent (not coupled), and electrically isolated • Each magnet manifest some saturation when DAC value around -1500 (full range is -2000 to +2000) • Resolution is about 100 nm/DAC step, new DAC to be installed in January will give 10 nm/DAC step • Position feedback seems viable. Can do both position and angle corrections (x,x’) and (y,y’) • Correction in both helicity states (not done yet)

  3. Helicity Magnet 1 (vertical)

  4. Helicity Magnet 2 (horizontal)

  5. Helicity Magnet 3 (vertical)

  6. Helicity Magnet 4 (horizontal)

  7. Position Feedback Induced Charge Asymmetry • As measured in the 5 MeV region around • OLO5: • PZT x-scan on January 21, 2005: • Position induced charge asym ~ 50 ppm/um • Helicity Magnet 2 scan on Dec 22, 2006: • Position induced charge asym ~ 0.5 ppm/um

  8. HM for PZT Booster • ATLIS 4249 - Install 30hz Drive Capacity for HM • ATLIS 4183 – Testing Helicity Magnets (w/ 30 Hz functionality) • all 4 HM work in new 30 Hz BPM synchronization mode • amplitudes appear sufficient (2-5 mm), although MHE0L03V is somewhat smaller • 30 Hz orbit stable • PZTBooster concept seems viable

  9. PZT Booster Development Chao/Yves/Michele/Joe – working together to define goals, requirements, software, testing and plans. Basic goal => mimic small amplitude 30Hz PZT mirror orbit through entire machine, for matching. Anticipate being able to test/debug software during Jan. restoration and G0 setup period, but not scheduled yet because too soon to do so. Anticipate full scale testing at latest during BS in February to be requested as preparation tests.
