  2. Circumference • Definition: The distance around a circle. • Important Fact: For all circles, the ratio of the circumference to the diameter is the same… it is pi!!! ∏ Circumference C Diameter d

  3. Circumference Formulas • The circumference C of a circle is… C = ∏d or C = 2∏r where d is the diameter of the circle and r is the radius of the circle.

  4. Arc Length • Definition: A proportion of the circumference of a circle. • Important Fact: You can use the measure of the arc (given in degrees) to find its length (in linear units).

  5. Arc Length Formula • In a circle, the ratio of the length of a given arc to the circumference is equal to the ratio of the measure of the arc to 360o

  7. Special Arc Lengths… Semicircle 90o Arc • The length of a semicircle is one half of the circumference. • The length of a 90o Arc is one quarter of the circumference.
