  1. My Family By: Ashley Melanson

  2. My ethnic background • My family is mostly Italian. • My papa’s (grandfather’s) parents spoke only Italian and taught it to all of their children. • As my papa grew up he learned English and now he has forgotten most of the Italian he was taught.

  3. Food in Italy • In Italy they eat a lot of fish • For the holidays they have “the feast of the 7 fishes” • The types of fish that are served are: • Calamari (squid) • Scungilli (conch) • Baccala (dry, salt cod) • Shrimp • Clams (served with pasta) • Mussels • Some type of big fish usually a snapper, sea trout, tuna, or salmon

  4. My family is different… • In my family we don’t have the “feast of the 7 fishes” for holidays. • This is because nobody but my dad likes fish. • Instead of having fish we have Lasagna or another type of pasta. • After the lasagna we have traditional Italian desserts

  5. Desserts • There are many different desserts that we make and have for holidays. • Some of them include: • Zeppole’s (which taste just like fried dough) • Cannoli’s  • Pizzel’s
