Value Educational Access • And Student Success • Integrate technology to support the strategic direction of the college, and create a holistic environment for learning by: • Providing 24/7 online tutoring resources • Quickly and easily tailoring tutoring resources to meet student and faculty needs

Value People • Support faculty growth opportunities to enhance the learning process by: • Providing relevant examples of “online learning objects” • Providing software which expands teaching options for classroom and online instruction • Providing an opportunity for faculty to easily develop, share and archive important multi-media presentations

  4. Value Partnerships • Expand curriculum working with local health care providers and with the local and regional energy industry by: • Creating an online model upon which industry training can be based

  5. What are Online Tutorials? These are web-based learning modules that students complete on their own time, either on campus or from home.

  6. The vision for tutorials • Online tutorials are designed to teach straight-forward processes and concepts which take advantage of repetition • They utilize audio, text, graphics, photographs and symbols. They are multi-media • They are interactive, utilizing quizzes and directional prompts. • They are easily accessible.

  7. They are continually evolving, easily updated, works in progress • Online Tutorials are used tosupplement instruction and person-to-person synchronous tutoring, not replace them. They reinforce and repeat what students learn directly from faculty, tutors or textbooks. • Can include access for students with limited sensory abilities. Since the tutorials include audio and visual, they can be used by blind and deaf students. • Can be used as “Learning Objects” in courses

Distribution • Tutorial Locations • Some tutorials available on public webpage • All tutorials available on student portal • All tutorials available on employee portal / intranet • Faculty encouraged to link tutorials to WebCT • Tutorials Marketing • Presentations made to faculty regarding tutorials during convocation • Emails to faculty regarding tutorials • Presentations to academic advisors

Where are we going next? • Develop more online simulations for concepts with complex variables • Collect data from students and faculty regarding usage and effectiveness, and include that data in future planning. • Continue developing new tutorials in the following areas: • Content areas • Study Skills • College Information and Processes
